Aerial yoga will turn your world upside down!

Aerial Yoga in Brighton & Hove

Only a few feet off the ground; our aerial yoga classes feature all of the alignment, techniques and benefits of yoga using a low slung, silky, aerial hammock to support you in flowing through traditional yoga postures and some fun new aerial postures too!

Why do Aerial Yoga?

Take the weight off

By supporting your body weight on the aerial hammock, it helps to access these postures and deepen stretches in a safe, unique and exciting way; gaining flexibility, confidence and strength as you progress. The ‘weightless’ aspect of these classes assist in allowing you to access a wider range of movement, moving through poses that would otherwise be restricted.

About Me

Come fly with me

I’m Laura. I am a friendly and enthusiastic born and bred Brightonian human who doesn’t take myself too seriously. If I’m not hanging upside down, then I’m paddling around on the sea. I have two teenagers, a dog, a cat and a fella. I like to live the healthiest and happiest life possible, filled with as much fun as possible. Almost annoyingly so.

I am passionate about all things yoga. I earned my RYT200E yoga teacher qualification in India. I am qualified to teach Hatha, Vinyasa and Ashtanga. This is very important to mention because the yoga mat alignment and flow plays an essential part in ensuring good practice in aerial yoga classes too.

My yoga teaching experience is also incorporated into the aerial classes with some yogic breathing techniques, Pranayama and some yoga therapy.

I was lucky enough to be trained by London’s leading aerial yoga teacher training school, Flying Fantastic. They ensure that all of their teachers pass their qualification to a very high standard in safety, covering absolutely everything from rigging safety procedures to your safety in the sling.

I am fully insured and I am a First Aider.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes, we take the classes very gently for beginners. If you haven’t tried aerial yoga before then it’s understandable to be a little anxious! Our friendly, non-competitive classes accommodate beginners and intermediate aerial yogis at a gentle pace. We do a lot of accessible yoga stretches using the hammocks for support. All postures and activity are clearly demonstrated and you will be guided throughout. Aerial yoga is still a relatively new activity in the UK and you will not be alone! We have a lot of beginners and intermediates too.

  • Whilst aerial yoga is structured around a traditional yoga framework, it is not essential to have practiced any yoga before. For some people this is an interesting and exciting way to begin their yoga journey, whilst some previously experienced yogis may find this a great way to deepen their yoga and compliment their practice on the mat.

  • You don't have to be very strong or very flexible to participate in our Flight and Flow aerial yoga classes. This moderate intensity non-competitive class is designed to introduce you to the world of aerial yoga at a gentle pace.

You will build strength, confidence and flexibility with a lot of laughter as you progress.

Whilst aerial yoga can be a little challenging at times, all classes are designed to enable learners to increase or decrease the different levels of intensity. Options to progress postures will be made available to people who wish to challenge themselves further. You will be in full control of the level of intensity you feel comfortable with at all times. You do need to be reasonably fit and in good health. Please see the Health Restrictions

People with mobility restrictions may be more suited to the Float and Flow Restorative Aerial Yoga class where the hammocks are suspended close to the ground.

  • Whilst it is not compulsory to participate in the inversions, no aerial yoga class is complete without a little 'upside down'. This might feel odd at first, but once you get the hang of it (see what I did there!) then you’ll be pestering us to be upside down! There’s nothing more wonderful than the feeling of the spine gently decompressing with the help of gravity. Full demonstrations are performed and you will be guided through all inversions very slowly. You will be fully supervised, so take your time, do what you feel is comfortable for you, hang out and chill!

  • Regrettably our classes are not suitable during pregnancy.

  • Please bring a yoga mat, a water bottle and a smile.

(Oh and some clothes! You won't look good upside down naked. Trust me) Sorry, no phones or cameras permitted.

Clothing with stretch suitable for movement.

You must cover armpits, legs and torso to prevent friction burns from the aerial silks. ie. long or 3/4 length leggings or joggers and T-shirts or long sleeve tops are advised. Please make sure that these clothes can’t slide down, or fall over the head. *See above.

  • No, the hammocks are set at hip height for the standard aerial yoga classes and at knee height for the restorative aerial yoga classes.

  • With our professional equipment, training and supervision, Aerial yoga is as safe as any other recreational sport.

  • Anyone 16 years and over is able to participate in all of our classes and there are no height or weight limitations to the equipment - however certain moves will require you to support your own weight.

  • There is limited availability, with only 11 other participants in the studio. So Book Now!

  • If you've got injuries to your back, neck, shoulders or wrists, aerial yoga is probably not a good idea. If you're not sure, please get in touch.

  • We do not allow participants to take selfies, videos or any other photographs in class to maintain our safety standards. It is very hard to hold on with one hand and your full concentration is vital!

This strict policy is also to respect the other participants privacy and to respect the environment of yoga. This is a non-competitive , non-judgmental studio and we want all participants to feel comfortable. The instructor may occasionally capture a student’s progress if appropriate and safe to do so. No photographs of participants will ever be taken without their prior consent. Occasionally these images may be used for Flight and Flow’s social media, but again, only after seeking prior consent from the participant.

  • All participants must arrive on time to ensure that the aerial hammocks are adjusted to their required height for the individual. Any late attendees will not be allowed to join the class. It is not possible to leave the class early for any reasons other than sickness or in an emergency. This is to preserve the sanctuary of the Savasana relaxation period at the end.

  • All bookings are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend a class then we will happily credit you with another class-pass providing you are able to give a minimum of 24 hours notice before the class begins. Spaces are limited so regrettably bookings cancelled with less than 24 hours notice can not be credited.
